@Meghan i actually have the Huckleberry app. I use it to track everything else like sleep, diapers, growth, ect. But unfortunately you need the plus subscription to see the history of what foods have been tried and reactions.
@Emilie I can add/mark solids but to look at the overview of what she's eaten and how she reacted it tells me to purchase the plus subscription 😔
Are you talking about under the summary screen? Because that really isn’t needed. You can always look at past added content at the list from
@Emilie that's what I was referring to, yes. I just find it much easier if I'm able to look in one place to see which foods baby has tried as well as liked/didn't like and was allergic to because my memory is horrible so I'm bound to forget what's she's tried unless she had an allergic reaction to it. If there aren't any free apps with that option I may just use a spreadsheet or something lol
I used notes to track what she tried for the first time but, when they are young you should be trying things many times. You can add a note to soild in huckleberry. Are you planning to do purées or table food? Have you looked into the soild starts app? I know it’s still have a fee.
@Emilie originally we wanted to start her with table food and do BLW but with her being so young still we're starting with purees and the oatmeal, but I'm allowing her to take the spoon if she chooses to give her a little sense of feeding herself. I also have the solid starts app! It's nice for seeing what are common allergens as well as how to best serve different foods at different ages, but as my daughter is only 4 months it's not much help yet because it only suggests foods for 6+ months
Is it your choice or doctor told to you to start this early?
@Emilie i had mentioned I was worried about her getting enough iron due to my anemia so the pediatrician had suggested starting now as long as she's showing the readiness signs, which she is. She said we could also talk to my doctor about increasing the dose on my iron meds so more gets to her, but my doctor said she wasn't comfortable upping my dose. Also according to the pediatrician it's normal for babies to need a just a little extra iron in their diet around this age, but my daughter may need a little more supplementation due to my deficiency. Anyway, basically the pediatrician had made the suggestion but of course the choice is up to me, and I honestly don't want to risk my daughter having an iron deficiency, especially since she's already at risk as it's common in my family (my mother and grandmother also have minor iron deficiency).
Have you thought about giving her a vitamin supplement with iron in it? Ya she may ready by sitting and bringing items to her mouth. But typically their gut isn’t ready till six months. But if you for sure want to start I’d do cereal and veggies. I hope I’m not coming off as judgy I started my first daughter at four months and I kinda wish I didn’t. Also prepare for a poop change when you start. Do you eat a lot of iron rich foods?
@Emilie I didn't even realize they made supplements for babies! That may be a better idea than starting solids. Also absolutely no worries, I understand you're not judging, just trying to be helpful which I really appreciate. I try to eat iron rich foods as much as possible, but we have a very limited income so it can be a bit difficult. If you don't mind me asking, what makes you regret starting solids early with your first?
@Emilie that makes sense and definitely something I'd be a bit concerned about as I recently had a bit of a supply scare when I stopped pumping between feeds. Thank you so much for your help and advice!
Huckleberry you can use for free and I’ve heard 4 months is very coming to start
