I really want to breastfeed

My partner doesn’t want me to breastfeed as my LO has jaundice and lost quite a bit of weight since birth. I want to do 50/50 or atleast pump my milk for him but my partner thinks we should just rely on formula 😩

Why wouldn’t breast feeding & close skin to skin be good for jaundice??? If you’re primarily making sure nutrition is met with formula there’s literally no harm in breast feeding if you can get a latch !

Breastfeeding flushes out jaundice and I wasn't feeding every 2hrs! All babies lose weight after birth, some gain it back at a different rate than others. My baby is 3 weeks on Monday and is still about 5% away from her birth weight having lost nearly 9% of it. She's gaining it back slowly and they haven't even suggested formula to me because she is gaining even if its slow. A little jaundice is also normal. Usually by about day 3 they look pretty yellow then if it's over a threshold they treat with UV. If not they let feeding flush it out. Unless there's a medical cause.

If you want to breast feed do, and don't listen to him. One of my nieces was formula fed and still got bad jaundice she needed UV light. So it's not just because they're breast fed they can get ut

Breast feeding is best for jaundice!!!! Omg

My baby had jaundice too and i only breast fed. It can take time but be patient and put him for naps in the indirect sunlight with just diaper if the temp is good!

I’m worried I’ve left it too long he’s now 9 days old and I stopped on day 5 he still latches but only when my breasts have been pumped an hour prior

Mine lost 12.5% and was breastfed back up to weight. It took us 5 weeks but he’s now a chunky monkey

Incog if you can get a latch, it’s not too late to give it a shot especially if you had been pumping at all
