Canned tuna

Just read tuna is a health warning for mercury levels. Do you offer your LO’s? Mine has this almost every week! Also does anyone buy low sodium canned tuna they can recommend?

I know I seen this!!! It’s made me worried. I have given mashed up tuna steak a few times and think I will be giving this more now x

I haven't heard about this? My son eats tuna at school most days, should I be worried?

Mercury levels in tuna in the UK are different to those in the US. It's fine to give LO tuna once a week if you're in the UK. Maybe need to be a bit more wary in the US

I've only ever given my son up to half a can of tuna per week due to this 👍

All fish has mercury tho I thought weather it canned or fresh I still do this day split the can into 2sandwiches an Maybe a halfy

@Ayesha the study has actually found tinned tuna in UK & other European counties is double sometimes triple the recommended amount and has been for a few years now !

My little boy's favourite meal is Tuna Pasta Bake, so he has it at least every other week. Sometimes weekly, so it did worry me when I read that 😦

We don’t eat tuna because of mercury concerns. We do eat tinned sardines or salmon though
