I buy second hand for my kids presents. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with second hand gifts or homemade gifts.
Don’t give any credit to the 9% who said no 🙄🙄🙄
I think this is a great idea! I buy a lot of my kid’s toys second hand. I usually check FB market place & local buy nothing groups
90% of my kids toys, books and clothes are second hand. I have the money to buy brand new but why would I? They will get tired of toys, book and out grow clothes. Might as well use second hand to give those toys, clothes, books etc a second life and then resell them again to next family:)
I accidentally hit no so please count that 12% as less than it is!! It’s 10000% okay to buy secondhand and it’s actually WAY BETTER for the environment. Consumers keep consuming and it’s literally destroying the planet. Making kids happy and recycling products? 2 wins with one stone if you ask me.
Omg girl, YES. Fuck anyone else who says that's not okay.
Yup! Kids don’t care about that. Christmas is more than gifts it’s about spending time together and love. And Christ for some people.
Yes definitely! And honestly I get second hand presents for little kids on Vinted etc without packaging/box too and I just put it into my own gift bag or something! For example, my 4 year old brother is into playmobile so I bought 11 characters on Vinted loose and put them into an organza bag which cost barely anything and i know it’ll go down well :)
Some used presents don’t even look used if was kept well and cleaned well. They won’t notice the difference
We actually all should do that.
Second hand toys are the best.
Pressed no by accident, definitely okay and less wasteful too! Reduce, reuse and recycle!
100% the way to go. Especially at under 4 you could spend so much on something and they might never use it or like it. I get second hand books and toys for my son. My family always says “it’s new to us”
Clicked the wrong one by mistake. Meant to click yes!

I accidentally clicked no. I’m not exactly struggling with money but I buy second hand toys clothes etc all the time
Omg yes!!! Definitely they won’t even notice and it’s all about family time more than presents!
I’ve brought second hand toys before for Xmas just to pad out the budget like dressing up clothes, a doll house, peppa big bundle. They don’t care at that age.
Just bought a few items for my daughter at a consignment sale & they will be going under the tree
I'm married and we gave our daughter second hand toys and clothes for Christmas last year with a few new but cheaper items. We just don't have the money for new and expensive presents plus she didn't care where they came from, she loved all her presents and was very grateful for them
I'm hunting in charity shops for my youngest gifts, he's autistic and doesn't play with toys for very long so I'm not forking out alot of money for toys he will only play with once or twice , eldest son who's 11 will buy brand new.
I don't always struggle with money and I still sometimes get toys secondhand. It didn't just help me. It helps whoever is selling the item as well.
I buy second hand for mine anyway. They don’t care about the price tag and they don’t care about quantity either. Just a handful of presents. Save every penny you can. Plus it’s good for the environment
I’d love to hear from those who pressed no (not by accident) and why they think it’s wrong? I think buying pre loved items is a lovely thing, and most children play with their toys for a short while anyway!
Second hand presents are always ok! My daughter’s birthday is so close to Christmas it can be a little struggle so I always keep my eyes out on Facebook market place, Vinted, charity shops ect. Last year for Christmas I found someone on Facebook who was giving away a HUGE lol house, her face on Christmas morning when she was that and my heart when she said that the elf’s did a good job making it! Children don’t see boxes and price tags ❤️
Definitely okay! My child’s grandmother gets my son 2nd hand toys all the time I give them a good clean and to be honest they end up being his favourite toys. Please don’t feel bad if that’s all you can do, you’re trying your best for your kids and I think that’s amazing! Their little faces will still light up with joy on Xmas day and you’ll feel so much better about it ❤️
My kids are still young so don't really care or understand if something is new. I bought several things the other day in a charity shop for them. I'm not a single mum but I am on maternity leave
I’d even say completely acceptable for a non single parent to buy second hand! I’ve already bought one toy from Vinted for this year. They already exist in the world 💗
Absolutely
I'm not single and we don't struggle financially but my kids love vinted and charity shops so if they see something they want I'm not going to be like nah I'll spend triple the price instead on something you'll be interested in for 3 days 😂😂😂 I've just cleared out 5 bin bags of toys from the kids rooms all in perfect condition I hope will make some other children happy.

Absolutely, it's still a gift regardless and I don't think at that age they would know or be bothered as they'll be happy. You're still doing a great job making sure they have something to open of Christmas day, don't ever feel bad about that ❤
I accidentally hit no, there’s no problem with that at all
You can also sign up for Toys for tots for them 😊
100% check out money mum on instagram she did a post on this this other day, helps the environment too win win z
Why would anyone say no???
Absolutely! Most kids toys are plastic so we should definitely be buying pre-loved - far better for the planet and our purses!
Yes absolutely. I think this is ok for anyone to do. Most of my son's presents this year I have bought secondhand off vinted, life is expensive these days and I can get so much more for my money buying secondhand instead of new.
I have 3 grown up kids and an almost 3 year old now. For my older kids I only ever bought new. But now we have likes of marketplace to get things cheap or free. I admit I was maybe too snobby for secondhand before as gifts but now I don’t care. My child outgrows them soon anyway and I can sell it on again for same money and get others with the money again. My older kids remember the memories over the years not the gifts!! I have so far bought a mixture of new and secondhand for both birthday and Xmas
I've consistently told my family as a new mom that I won't be buying for the sake of buying so it looks like my LO has loads or for the normal Christmas insta pics. That's not that it's about. As long as your children have something to open Christmas day and spend the day surrounded by the people they love then you can't go wrong x
Girl I think that’s ok regardless of financial status! A thousand million percent ok. You’re doing great!! (We’re a 3-4 gift family. “Something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read.” The toys I buy are generally found on Facebook marketplace, and the books are cheap at the library used bookstore. My daughter literally doesn’t care that it’s not brand new)
Love this!!!!!! ❤️ I think for any mum 2nd hand toys are great. They often still have loads of life and you are saving money, saving the planet, often helping out another mum (or charity) that could do with the extra pennies 👏👏👏
Second hand is always okay no matter what age! The price of toys is ridiculous! We’ve used Vinted/ makertplace many times for second hand toys and saves us a fortune!
Absolutely more than okay.
