Is it time to move to the crib??

Hey everyone, FTM here and wondering if baby boy needs to be moved out of his bassinet. He hasn’t hit the weight or height limits yet (he is 14 weeks, 16 pounds and some change, and probably 24-25 inches), but he is a VERY active sleeper. He will turn completely sideways in the bassinet and sometimes get stuck, and I’ll wake up to him fussing! But sometimes he will completely turn around (180 degrees) and I’ll wake up to his head on the opposite side of the bassinet than I laid him down on. I don’t want to move him to his own room yet, but I’m wondering if him being so active in his bassinet is dangerous at all? I’ll attach a picture for reference!

Can you fit the big cot in your bedroom? And have it at the bottom of your bed at all?

I kept my daughter in next to me untill she was 5/6 months but guess all depends on weight and how baby sleeps etc if possible move big crib to your room as not meant to be alone that young x

You’ve just made me google the weight limit of my little ones next 2 me and I’ve just realised he’s too heavy for his 😂😩😭

So our little one is a very active sleeper too and started doing this and a lot of the time would get stuck, upset and disrupt her sleep. We moved her to the crib and it's been so much better for everyone.

Time for pack and play next to your bed until about 6 months !

I second @Gabriella! My son was an active sleeper too. I switched him to a pack n play that remained in our room for more space until we were ready to transfer him to his crib in the nursery

My son started doing this around 6ish months. And I moved him to crib and he slept sooo much better. But honestly I wasn’t ready at all. And definitely wouldn’t be ready at 14 weeks! lol I’d move a pack n play in your room! Or find a bigger bassinet on marketplace! (I did this!)

I didn’t move mine out of the bassinet til he was pulling up in the side and making me fearful he’d go tumbling out. Then I moved him to a pack and play in my room. Then slowly started doing naps in his room and bedtime in our room until we fully transitioned him

Travel cots are a lot more spacious and you can buy them for about £40 so may be worth having that instead, you wouldn’t have to move him to his own room then x

@Jess we could probably fit the crib in there, would just have to take it apart to get it through the doorways lol 😑

@Francesca it’s about 10 steps to his room and yes we have a video monitor!

@Elena oh no!! I only googled it because he was in the bassinet portion (zip-on) of his pack n play at first and that only goes to 15 pounds, so I was curious about the actual bassinet weight limits.

@Jessica hmm I hadn’t thought of this! We also have a trip coming up in March, so this would be useful anyway. Thank you!

@Nicole We thought of that, but the pack n play is sooooo close to the ground because he’s outgrown the zip-on bassinet attachment. Did you add a mattress into the pack n play for your little one?

I read if they’re hitting the walls they are too big, I just put his crib in my room at 4 months

I wondered about mine too. He’s only 6 weeks old but he’s always squirming his way down to the end of the bassinet but he only has inches to spare in room. I’ve been thinking about moving him to his crib.

I put my lil one in a crib in our room 😅 stayed there until our second came along

Fortunately my bedroom is big enough for a crib, so I had him in his crib in my room until about a year old! Is that an option for you?
