@Kayleigh would you say it was a nicer/calmer environment for you ? and why would you say your more inclined to do an elective c section with ur 3rd baby, was it due to pain management/calmer environment. Thankyou xx
It was lovely and calm. My first birth went completely fine but I don’t have anything negative to say about my section. I’ve chosen a section this time around as it works a lot better for us having a set day to have her and my recovery from my section wasn’t all that bad.
@Kayleigh they never put my son on my chest with my section (emergency) my partner held him to my face instead so I could at least see my baby. I was also in there for an hour before they opened me up and an hour after having my baby, but no explanation as to why. Worried the hell out of my partner that's for sure. Especially being in there for an hour before they brought my partner in and opened me up, because they told both me and my partner it would be 10/15 minutes wait before bringing my partner in, not an hour wait.
@Siobhan ah, I was alone for my section so that might be why she was put onto my chest straight away.
@Kayleigh no because I've seen many a section baby be put on mum while she's stitched up, even when dads there.
@Siobhan Mabye this was due to it being emergency circumstances and not planned x
But even other mothers who had ECS have had babies on their chest. He was born 3:01am and I didn't get to hold my baby for the first time until almost 11am that morning. It was very obvious that my ECS didn't go the way it should but no one has said anything to me or my partner about it. And we haven't been successful in finding out what happened/what went wrong.
I’m yet to have my section (booked for 25th Nov) but I’ve opted for one as I had a really traumatic delivery with my first 4 years ago, and honestly I am still recovering mentally from it. I was also informed that I’d most likely need a section as the safest form of delivery, however I could try a vaginal delivery if I understood the risks. But once I explained my reasoning, my consultant understood. He’s aware of what happened and understands that I want this delivery to be as calm and as healing as possible for me. I’ve created a birth plan that states that I’d like skin to skin immediately, what my preferences of breast feeding are, who I’ll have with me, and that as much as I want XYZ to happen, I understand in an emergency that this might not be the case. I’m taking several copies of this to give out and will be discussing it all in my preop today :)
@Shannan that’s beautiful and very brave of you, proud of you ! Thanks for sharing xx
I had one with my second because she was upside down and back to front. I’ll be having one with my 3rd too. My daughter was put straight onto my chest as soon as she was out. She stayed there whilst they stitched me up and finished off the surgery. Once that was done they took her just next to me to check her over and then put her back on my chest whilst they moved us to recovery.
