Try organic coconut oil on your flange so it reduces the friction of the pump and its perfect safe for baby and does wonders for the nipple pain. I used to dread pumping because of the pain.

Yes! I went through this a couple times especially in the beginning. My lactation consultant and my doula said to leave a bit of milk on the nipple and areola to dry and it would start helping and healing it and sure enough it did. Eventually I just kept doing it to prevent that feeling from cominh back
I used a nipple butter before pumping so there was less friction. I also noticed that my hands free pump was gentler than my plug in pump but the output was about the same.
Have you tried nipple shields? When I started BF my nipples were exactly like this, I couldn’t even put the towel over them after a shower 😩 I used nipple shields for 2 weeks to give them a chance to recover and then they just got better and haven’t had a problem since xx
