Rum Cake

So my boss brought a piece of rum cake from his trip to the Caribbean and everyone at work had a slice. Not even thinking I took a very small piece. You can definitely taste the rum but idk exactly how much it was. But I would assume it's equivalent to a few sips?? My question is with pumping. If I wait 2 hours to pump would that be fine to feed my daughter later? Or should I just dump it regardless? Then I pump again before bed.

I personally probably wouldn't even worry about it.

Im with Alex i wouldn't worry about it and carry on as normal

@Alex @Drew On the box it says "cake contains less the ½ of 1% of alcohol" so that makes me feel better 😂

You don’t need to dump!

Pump and use as normal. The alcohol would have been cooked off in the cooking process!

It’s completely fine , the alcohol is cooked off you can just taste the flavour of it

You’ll be fine wouldn’t need to wait or dump tbh

I wouldn't worry about it. I think most of the alcohol is cooked off, but it's such a small amount. BTW pump and dump is a waste.

@Olivia agreed! My grandma use to make the strongest rum cake. We'd joke if we'd ever got pulled over and smelled like rum it was because of her cake. I was a child so it was safe like you said, it's cooked out. Just a good flavor left over!

I've had a drink while feeding. My doctor and the Lactation people at the hospital said as long as i don't get sloshed im good to feed

There is no need to wait or dump. That’s an incredibly tiny amount of alcohol, your body will break that down to an even smaller amount before it goes in your milk and then in turn babies body will break that down even further so an even tinier amount will get to their bloodstream. Such a tiny tiny amount!

You can drink whilst feeding anyway! I was told anything you drink would be like putting a shot glass of alcohol into a huge swimming pool by the time it gets to baby
