Ear piercing - 12 months

Hello all! I’d love to hear from parents that have pierced their baby years at age or a bit older. My baby just turned one and we would to get her ears pierced but I’m worried she will be picking on them and will get an infection. For cultural reasons, we would rather do it sooner than later when she is older. Thank you!

Hey! Ex piercer here! I always recommended piercing babies from 3months-9month. From 10m- about 4years old. I always found this age hardest to heal due to them picking at the site, pulling at it, and not wanting it to be cleaned (no.matter how bad they asked for it at that age) I always recommend to do it as young as possible I would tell you to definitely go on ahead and get them done (JUST NOT AT CLAIRES FOR THE LOVE OF GOD). Igot my sons done at 12months and he has never not once pick with them or made it too hard to clean. (I mainly did it while he was sleeping during nap and bedtime) they healed amazing No problem what so ever. As long as you can watch the piercing it should be fine. If the go to daycare throughout the day tho I don't kno if I would recommend just because daycare workers aren't really going to pay attention to that (I work as a preschool teacher now at a daycare learning center so I kno that for a fact) Ps. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE EARRING BACKS ON THE EARRING. EVER.

@Jasmine where do you suggest we go? I don’t necessarily want to go to a tattoo shop with my kids or like a big crazy piercing place. But I havnt done much research what do you think

@Gabrielle Piercing pagoda is a good place. Idk where yu are good places vary from state to state. Regardless look at reviews wherever yu decide to go for sure
