My daughter had really bad clogged tear duct when she was 2 weeks old like her eye would be shut because of how much gunk would produce what we did was clean her eye with chamomile tea on a cotton pad (not soaking wet but also not dry) and also massaged her eye from the inner corner to the outer corner on both top and bottom of her eye
@Kiara how did you know it was a blocked tear duct and not pink eye? I just wonder if she was misdiagnosed especially when she’s having the same issue so soon after finishing the antibiotic drops
@Anaya I think my husband is going to start trying this twice a day. I have fake nails and I don’t want to hurt her. I just wish I knew if it was tear duct or pink eye. We go to her pediatrician on Monday for her 4 month appointment
It was like eye boogers like a yellowish green color and we also brought it up to the pediatrician after she had it for like two or three days (we waited because we already had a pediatrician appointment coming up anyway) and she told us it was just clogged and to just do the massages my stepmom is the one who recommended using the chamomile tea to clean her eyes
We currently are experiencing a blocked tear duct and have been since like 3 weeks old we wipe it and try to massage it they said it should go away through out time
They also said if the eye is not pink its a blocked tear duct
My baby got some eye gel and it cleared up all the gunk within a day!
If the eye itself isnt pink then its not pink eye! Its a clogged tear duct most likely and our ped said it can recur often in babies until they are a year old or longer. Massage the inner corner of their eye for 10 seconds with a warm washcloth 3x a day and it should resolve itself with time. Worked for us multiple times! And of course just keep wiping the gunk away gently with a clean warm washcloth
Yes my baby had this. She ended up having surgery. It was super scary. But very quick and she’s all better now
Ours had since birth. It's starting to clear up now. They do make specific eye wipes for babies, we used that most days. But a warm washcloth also works. That will remove the gunk which as someone said was like yellow crusties. We also did the massage down the nose and around the eye.
when my twins were first born our dr just suggested massaging the inner corner of their eye with our pinky. we do it relatively often because they get gunk when they sleep hard.
