Teething??? This early? First baby please help!

Baby boy was born July 9th and last night he woke up every hours screaming in pain. For the last two days, he’s been incredibly irritable. Almost like he gets mad at his toys or anything I give him. He definitely is drooling a lot and our pediatrician said he is definitely teething. I have gels and give Motrin every 8 hours. How do I survive the nights?

Ugh that was our night but didn't think it was teething but she has been exactly the same. Fussy for no reason, almost annoyed at everything and wanted to bite and drool over all. I'm here for the advice as well bc I'm not sure what do to at night

Same here my baby was born July 20 , drools a lot but mostly gets really upset at his toys and chews aggressively at them . He’s been really fuzzy lately too . I wonder if it’s teething 😣

Do you have night time oragel? That helped our baby girl sleep better when she first started teething! You can try frozen breast or formula milk in a paci too (my aunts a nurse she recommended it), my baby wasn’t a fan of the cold though. We had a hard time finding a teether that didn’t make her mad so you kind just have to try them out. I also made sure to give her Tylenol right before bed so she could fall asleep with it in her system so she could sleep better for at least that first little block of time

@Claire Yes I have Origel and an all natural version since Origel is only supposed to be given 4 times in 24 hours. Nothing seems to work. I gave him Tylenol before bed since he hadn’t eaten and didn’t want to eat. At the 5th hour mark I gave him Motrin when I was finally able to get him to eat. No change, I ended up bringing him to bed with me but they only lasted 2 hours

Hey fyi you're not recommended to give babies motrin until at least 6 months. My pediatrician just told me this Friday. Tylenol is fine though. My daughter is going through her teething phase too. Right now, we've been staying afloat with a teething toy, teething tablets, cold fruit in a mesh holder, ice in a plastic bag & tylenol as needed. I had oragel but read something that an ingredient in it wasn't good for baby and it wasn't really working anyways lol so I tossed it.

@Tyiesha💜 the Motrin was actually recommended by my pediatrician

@Yasmine how many nights has he been not sleeping well and does he nap well during the day. Fortunately she was able to sleep half way decent during the night but I think that’s cause she could not nap during the day. We got recommended a different product, but she stopped being cranky before we could really try if it worked. My husbands coworker said he used Camilla liquid doses for all three of his littles.

@Claire I have also tried Camila, I forgot to give it to him last night. He is surprisingly napping more now that you mention it.

@Tyiesha💜 @Yasmine my aunt also recommended the teething tablets too! I never got to try them though cause our routine worked for baby girl at least for her two bottom teeth that are through now!

@Claire he’s been like this since Sunday

@Manuela @Jessica that’s how my girl started off. Feel her gums with your finger and if her teeth are starting to cut you will feel it. It will either be a sharp feeling cause it’s started to come through the gums or the gum will feel really hard and might have a white tint to it.

@Yasmine my girl probably was irritatable for a week maybe a week and a half hopefully it slowly gets better like ours did with these first teeth. She definitely didn’t nap for me except for tiny cat naps when she’d tucker out from crying, but I had to be holding her if she napped during the day. Only other thing that I remember her doing was after her bottle she loved chewing on the nipples! I realized that’s the texture she wanted and tried to find a teether with a similar texture!

@Claire we definitely have a white tint, can you share with me how long it took for your daughters tooth to push through?

My baby was born 10 days after yours and has 4 teeth popping through. You’re not crazy. Ask your pediatrician for the correct amount of infant Tylenol and hang in there. I suggest very small teething toys that are similar to bunkie shapes. There’s a penguin one they can hold that mine loves.

@Yasmine she was really irritable around the 15th of October and by the 27th or so she stopped being as cranky and both the bottom teeth had broken the skin completely.

@Paige Thank you Paige, based on his weight, my pediatrician has recommended Motrin for teething but last night I gave him Tylenol since he hadn’t eaten and I read that Motrin can cause some tummy issues. Can you link me the toys your talking about please?

@Claire I really appreciate the information Claire!

@Claire absolutely! Smily Mia Breastfed Baby Pacifiers, Baby TeethingToys for 0-6Months, Baby Teethers for 3-6Months, Hand Teether For Infants, Baby Essentials&Baby Registry for New Born, Baby Must Need Items, light blue https://a.co/d/5amlwJl

@Yasmine wow lol well nevermind. Each pediatrician is different I guess

@Claire that's good! Yea they worked for me. I might also add in them Camilla drops everyone keeps talking about.

Wow ! Same here my baby girl is almost 4 months old and she is teething ! Only thing I would check is the Motrin recommendation. Speaking as a nurse, we only give it to children after 6 months old. In the case better use Tylenol ♥️ I hope the tooth comes through soon and he will feel more like himself 🙏🏻
