Need advice

I already wash my Little one’s hair once a week but spray it with water (that has leave in added to the it ) every morning. I also oil it every morning ( her oil is a mix of castor oil, coconut oil and jojoba oil ). However , she has phases where her hair is just falling off , but the major one was when she fell ill for about 10 days , her hair was falling off so bad you could see it everywhere. she’s 8 months old now. Also if I don’t oil it , it does look dry, like it looses moisture fast . She has a bonnet that she wears to bed. How do I get her hair to retain moisture and does she need the hair oil every day ? I just need to find something that works for her hair.

You are doing everything right. Mixed race babies tend to loose hair in the earlu stages n our hair comes in properly at toddler age. Continue oiling it. Your doing great mama

Don’t oil it every morning as you’ll be stuck with build up. Too much oil can damage as well. Again don’t spray with leave in ALL the time as too much of something can be damaging. Her hair doesn’t always have to look juicy and wet to be healthy. Curls can retain moisture without looking wet. Try not to stress too much as she hasn’t got much hair yet. Treat her hair how you would treat your own until her full curls develop into a hair type. I am saying this as a woman who has looked after mixed and black Afro/carib hair types for years now and I’ve self taught myself. My method would be oil it twice to three times a week and comb through it. Do not use too many drops of oil. 2 or 3 again will be enough if they are small drops. Again only spray it with leave in 2-3 times a week as you won’t be washing it out TIL the end of the week. Leave in isn’t meant to be built up and built up. Only spray with the water if it’s desperately needed for to style her hair or a tough comb through :)

Other than that I hope it helps you. You’re doing great. It’s okay to ask people from time to time.

@Keisha thank you ☺️

In my experience, having children with completely different textures/curl patterns…coconut oil isn’t great for any of their hair, it kind of dries it out tbh. For now, judging from the photo, oil daily is probably too heavy. A good leave in conditioner works really well. Always make sure to fully wet down her hair, comb through with the spray and you can then add a little oil to lock on moisture (Just a few drops and not daily). Argon oil works well or any of the good salon brands options.

Don’t over apply with anything. You just need to let her hair rest she’s only a child x
