Post baby bleeding

Hey guys! I’m currently still pregnant but I’ve been hearing about how some people have had to wear diapers after giving birth and may bleed up to 12 weeks. I was wondering, is the bleeding similar to what a period might look like or is it much worse or different? I’m trying to gauge how much of a break I might need to take from school after giving birth and what I might have to expect recovery wise.

All my post baby bleeding was just like a period for me. But idk if that because all of them but 1 was a c section or what

My bleeding was way worse than a period for the first few weeks and then gradually became lighter and stopped around 6 weeks.

Heavier than a period + clots (a few as big as an egg) for 2 weeks, about the same as a period for a week, and then infrequent brown blood for another week for me. I used diapers for all 3 weeks of bleeding because pads+underwear got too close to my stitches

It’s different for everyone really. I only had heavy bleeding (more than a period) for about a week with clots and then normal bleeding for another week or so. The rest was just spotting here and there. But from what I know it’s not 12 weeks pp, it’s 8 weeks. After that, if you bleed it’s considered a period

Also, don’t bother with the big pads. They’re so uncomfortable. Diapers were so much easier and comfortable! I know it might look a bit weird but trust me, they’re very comfy 😂

Had a cesarean the first time and was heavy for a week and then was light for another week. 3 wks an I was able to get back to normal. 2nd was a vbac and it took 2 weeks

I had a vaginal birth and was bleeding for around 2 weeks. The diaper are honestly the easiest thing to wear as they can be torn off which means less bending. You will see quite a few clots come out as well which is totally normal.

for me it was really heavy the first 2 days, much heavier than a period. but after that it calmed down a lot and wasn’t as bad, more like a regular period flow. it took about 2/3 weeks to stop altogether, and towards the end it was more like spotting

For me, it was worse than a period. I bled very heavily for 3.5 months. I wore adult diapers religiously for the first 7 weeks, changing the diaper almost every time I used the restroom. I didn’t have stitches. I also had contractions every time I nursed my baby for the first couple of weeks. Every mom’s body is different so do whatever you need to do to take care of you. Your recovery matters just as much as your newborn’s needs.

Thank you guys so much for telling me your experiences!
