Getting out and about

When did you start to take your babies outside? I'm 7 days pp and we need to do a food shop but I don't know if to take my baby with us or just get my o/h to go and we stay at home. Is there a right or wrong amount of time to wait before we go outside and do things?

I went out with him as soon as possible. Probably about 10 days pp but I'd had a c section so couldn't really walk before that....it was nerve wracking taking him out in the pram for the first time but it was really nice to be out and you get used to it all quickly xx

We took her to costa 6 days post partum after taking her to get registered. She was in hospital with jaundice on day 3/4 so was technically already out and around more germs than anywhere else🤣 as soon as you’re comfortable x

I don't think there is a right or wrong, just whatever you feel able to or want to do. Xx

I took my baby out the day after we got out of hospital so that was a week later. We were in hospital for 6 days but got out extremely late on day six and then we went to meet my mum on day 7. I loved it and now we go out near enough every day.

@Rebecca I've had a section myself. I went out on my own Monday to some shops but I think I over did it as I was sore again in the evening. I was only 5 days pp then

@Marissa I was in hospital for 4 days when I had her. We've got an appointment next week to register her

We had to travel an hour to get his tongue tie done the day after we got home from hospital, he was 48 hours old 🫣 we had appointments every day or every other day so were spending time outside from the beginning. He's now 3 weeks and I think there's been 4 days where we haven't left the house at least for a little walk. I also had a section and the light walking has been feeling good

I went out probably 2 weeks or 3 weeks PP. I put him in my sling carrier dressed him well and went grocery shopping. It was great to get out

The fresh air is really good for you especially now the days are shorter. Wrap up and enjoy

We went out on day 2. If you feel ready , Go for it!

We took my newborn on a dog walk to the butchers on day 3. Then to the pub for dinner on day 4. I personally love doing the food shop so I’d take them! Plus I love everyone cooing over him!

I went out for lunch 5 days PP. I spoke to a lady at Toby carvery 0 day PP she gave birth like 6 hours before and fancied a roast 😂😂 it was her 5th so she felt fine apparently

We went food shopping 3 days pp. there’s no right or wrong it’s just how comfortable you feel

I went out the day after clearly I was high on adrenaline 🤣 just when ever you feel like going xx

There’s no right way or wrong way just your way. I was at the restaurant down the street having breakfast two days after being home. At the chiropractor, the day after that. We just continue life as normal.

The day after they were born both times

If he’s breastfed he’ll have some protection as you’ll pass on some of your immunity. But honestly - get your groceries delivered and go some place enjoyable for your first outing

We went into Asda on the way home from the hospital as we had nothing that fit her 🙈😂 Then went out on day 3 with her x

We were in hospital for a week so was walking around the ward from the morning after but the day we got home we’ve been out and about every day. Post c section too. I was itching to go for walks straight away day 2. It’s scary and I still get nervous going to new places but the more you do it the easier it becomes in general. And sussing out where’s good to change baby ect too! X

I think as long as you’re taking care of baby, they will be ok:)we waited a couple of weeks to even go for a walk outside and I really wish we would’ve done it week 1:(

Personally would let my husband do the shopping. Taking new borns out when unnecessary is not the norm for us.

i took my baby out 2 days after she was born lol

whatever feels comfortable to you. personally i didn’t go anywhere with baby for like 2 weeks i spent a lot of time resting first

I went food shopping on my way home from the hospital, others have too, but I’ve read people like to wait too. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong, just don’t let people stick their face in the pram etc is my rule!

We went for a walk day 8/9

My little one was less than 24hours old when we went to my other daughter's gymnastics class 🤣
