Mastitis

Has anyone had mastitis and what helped to treat/prevent? My OB put me on Dicloxacillin antibiotic, anyone have any experience on this and if it affected their baby while breastfeeding?

Until you get your prescription, use a hotttt compress to massage your breasts or take a hot shower. Not wearing a bra that keeps your breasts up hurts more so wear a good push up or wire bra. To prevent in the future, make sure you breastfeed as frequently as your baby typically eats (newborns eat 3-4 hours). If you have full breasts and your baby isn’t hungry, pump!!!!

My OB told me yesterday they’re wanting you to use cold compresses now… she also said a hot steamy shower bend over and massage you ducts (armpit to backside of breast) to get the clog out.. and milk moving.

COLD compresses! Feed as normal and take ibuprofen for pain. Take sunflower lecithin if you aren’t already it really helps prevent clogs. And the antibiotic is totally safe while breastfeeding. I had mastitis 5 times 😅 message me if you have any other questions 🫶🏼

@Erin omg good to know! I was in so much pain and they told me to use hot which was my only relief. I’m glad you shared this information 🩷🩷🩷
