Anxiety about labour.

I'm 37 weeks with my first, and the closer I get to labour, the more I fear the possible complications that can happen in labour such as pre-eclampsia or hellp syndrome, etc, or complications for my baby. I know that worrying about it isn't going to help anything, but it's so difficult not to worry about those scenarios, especially when birth stories like this keep coming up on tiktok and other social media platforms. If anyone has some helpful advice or words of encouragement, that would be greatly appreciated.

You can message me

Hey! I had my baby 4 weeks ago, if you need someone to talk to message me x

I have been doing a lot of meditation since the start of my pregnancy and that helps me with stress and anxiety in general. Try to remember yes you can learn a lot from other peoples birth stories that you read or hear but at the end of the day I can tell you from my experience as a nurse in labor and delivery no two births I’ve ever seen have been the exact same every birth is different, yes that means you don’t know exactly what to expect but you can trust in the team that you have gotten to know since the start of your pregnancy, I really recommend the meditation. You can also do meditation with your partner and work on things they can do to help with the anxiety. I think it is hard if you look at just stuff on online because for the most part, we don’t see people sharing their great labor stories, there’s a couple out there but for the most part people only end up sharing when they had a horrible time and that makes it feel like that’s the only way labor can go but it’s not.
