Rib pain?

Hi, I'm 25 weeks pregnant with my first baby & getting a intense pain around my ribs. It comes and goes in waves & seems to be worse at night time. I thought might be braxton hicks but my belly isn't tightening with the pains.

I had this aswell and was told it was just where the baby was positioned I know that probably not helpful and doesn’t make it any easier. x

Baby might be causing your rib cage to expand slightly, especially if she’s high up. Could also be your ligaments stretching.

It’s just the baby’s body. Either kicking, stretching, or its head bumping you

sounds like normal pregnancy pains unfortunately. you’re body is doing a lot of stretching and growing

I had a call with a physio about this yesterday and was given some stretching exercises to do about 8 times a day. Stretch away from the pain if you can.

I had horrid rib pain that started around a similar point in pregnancy and was worse in the evening. I used to feel like I needed to rip all my clothes off as felt they were to tight but they wasn't, and couldn't wear a bra, I tried many many maternity bras... Was painful to stand at the sink to brush my teeth before bed 😫 and had to keep turning over in bed as the longer I stayed on one side it felt like gravity was pulling on my rib cage 😫 if that sounds similar to what you're experiencing, I feel like it got more bearable after a few weeks so hang in there!! It was a struggle, don't be afraid to have paracetamol, and you'll be pleased to know that as soon as baby came the pain was gone xx

I'm only 5ft1 and my son was pretty big... He was always measuring off the chart 😬 so I put it down to my body was just having to expand alot and at a fast rate 🫠 Sorry for the long message haha I just remember scrolling through Peanut trying to find anyone who was having the same pain xx

Hot water bottle/heat pad did ease the pain for me, just hold it where the pain is... Just make sure it has a cover on 😊 it's not going to raise your core body temperature so it's perfectly safe xx

Thank you that's actually really reassuring that nothing is wrong & it's just my body stretching etc! ♡ I will definitely try a hot water bottle. I also found the pain much much worse when lying on my sides but then told to not sleep on back when pregnant. . . So sleeping has been a challenge to say the least lol x

I found sitting in the doggie position with a hot water bottle or a warm bath x
