Heartburn

23 weeks and I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night with mild heartburn. Is there anything I can do to relieve it? Today I had to sit up at 4am and take sips of water 😞 until I felt better enough to lay back down to sleep.

Chewing gum after a meal is a simple yet effective tip to support digestion. It increases saliva production, which helps neutralise stomach acid and can reduce symptoms of heartburn or acid reflux. Just make sure to choose sugar-free gum for the best results!

Ok!! Will get some gum today. Thank you so much for this tip.

I take rennies before bed every night or you could take Milk of Magnesia. Both are fine. If it got really bad you could ask your GP for omeprazol xx

Also sleep on your left it helps x

Gaviscon has been an absolute godsend for me!

With my 1st I suffered so bad with heartburn it actually made me physically sick, I didn’t end up asking my midwife for tablets untill 36 weeks and gave birth a week later🙃😂 I found Rennies helped more than gaviscon and got prescribed omeprazole if it gets progressively worse it’s worth an ask x

Thanks @Jo I’ll continue sleeping on my left but if it does get worse I’ll look into getting some Rennies

@Elisha Oh wow! I’ve never had it at all with my first but this week I just noticed it was bothering me more than usual. I’m seeing my midwife next week so if it persists I will let her know

@Emma noted! Thank you x

I’m getting really bad heart burn, I find milk or rennie is my best cure.

@Kelly I may give milk a try. Is it just drinking cold milk on its own?

I was prescribed gaviscon advance this time because it’s been sooo bad and I swear by it! I’ve opted for peppermint flavour as I can’t stand aniseed but I’ll prewarn you it’s the texture of glue and tastes a bit like sudocrem 🤣 but it works wonders!

Yep, nice big glass seems to help settle mine.
