Practice some fine motor skills specifically pincer grasp, picking up small objects, this can even be in his foods when you cut things up small and get him to pick it up with his fore finger and thumb, this will also help him to use his finger movements
Thank you! He only points at things in books or photos out of his own willingness (not to show anything or respond where is something, but he just likes touching things with his index finger). I hope he starts pointing soon at least occasionally. He actually hasn't waved at the bottle today. I am so worried.
He is showing actions or gestures to what he wants. It's definitely emerging for him to learn to point at a specific thing he is looking at. Encourage him to show you what exactly it is he is wanting by getting him closer to the direction he is waving at. Another idea to help him point is through play and books. Point to different things when you are naming them or showing him something.
