Engorgement

I’m 4 weeks pp and exclusively breastfeeding which has been going really well. Thankfully, my supply has always been really good the whole time but over the last day or two I feel engorged all the time. It feels like he completely empties me and then an hour later I feel extremely full again which I haven’t had up to yet, only the odd time I’ve felt engorged. It’s also both breasts and usually my left feels like it’s more full than the right. I’m also leaking a lot more (through multiple breasts pads and bras). I do want to start pumping when I can anyway but everyone says to wait until at least 6 weeks, but is this the start of an oversupply? Is it best to wait or can I pump to help the engorgement? Don’t know what to do I also don’t want to pump and then leave nothing for baby if that’s a thing? and don’t want to pump and start producing even more if I’m already producing more then enough 🥲

Hand express to relieve some of the engorgement and wait until his next feed to latch baby, although at 4 weeks it’s likely he’s still cluster feeding. As at 6 weeks they have a growth spurt so it will feel like he’s constantly attached

@Emma perfect thank you!

Girl I was the same and pumped right after coming home from hospital, don’t empty your breast just release the pain. Babies can get more milk out than a pump can anyways. Around 8 weeks my supply started dwindling cause I had stopped pumping and baby wasn’t cluster feeding anymore so it helped having the milk and I would say to continue to pump. Also washable breast pads on Amazon were a pocket saver definitely!

Your milk is just trying to adjust to what baby needs it goes a bit up and down probably due to a growth spurt soon
