Bottles

I make bottles up for the day and pop them in the fridge am I ok to microwave them to take the chill off them when they are out the fridge? I heard no because of bacteria heating them up?

They recommend to freshly make every time but I totally get it can be a faff. If you’re going to pre make them, you are better off submerging them in a jug of boiling water or a bottle warmer as microwaving heats from the middle outwards and therefore can make the bottle have hot spots that burn your babies mouth. Warming it gently in a jug of boiling water is much safer :)

Better off with a bottle warmer or jug of hot water. I used a digital bottle warmer too 4-5mins

We used to make 24hrs worth of bottles up, put them in the fridge and warm in the microwave but keep stopping every few seconds to shake it so there are no hot spots. Never ever had any issues. We did the first week with making every milk up fresh and trying to cool it and it could take twenty minutes to cool enough to give him and it was ridiculous, especially on night feeds! He fed at different times so we couldn’t even preempt his feeds!

I've always made my babys feeds in advance and popped them in the microwave to heat through. As long as you give a good shake to get rid of hot spots it's fine! 3rd time mum here and done it since having my first!

Never microwave formula. I just heat my premade bottles in a jug of hot water or in the bottle warmer I brought. Not only can you get hot spots when microwaving it can also damage the formula heating up to quickly and can destroy some of the nutrients and vitamins in the formula making the formula useless for its intended purpose

I use 2 flasks. 1 of boiled water which is warm/hot and then a smaller one with cool boiled water. When the hot one is still boiling, do the bottles half and half from each flask and then as the boiling water cools you can use less of the cool water. It is a faff carrying around 2 flasks in the baby bag but also avoids baby screaming so I take it as a win!

You need to heat them up in a jug of boiling water x

Recommend is boiled water but I’ve microwaved mine and had no problems as sometimes is crying for a feed. I have a prep machine so the microwaved ones are rare times but had no problems
