Crawling

My baby boy is 8 months on the 21st and is not crawling yet. He kinda scooches around when he's sitting, and puts his hands on the floor to reach out for things that are far away. He has been pulling himself far enough sometimes that he pulls himself onto his tummy, but he HATES being on his tummy, or his hands and knees, and sounds like a stressed cry when he's in that position. Are there any tips to help him learn to crawl? He pulls himself up onto his feet when we are there to help him, and goes to stand vs sit when I go to put him on the ground, so part of me is thinking he might just skip crawling and go straight to walking.

Don’t have much help but sounds like what my son did! He started that at 6.5 months and is now 8 months and can walk with his walker and walk assisted. He crawled for about 2 weeks before he started to stand/ pull himself up!

@Leah Yeah he's been doing it for a couple weeks now and has been doing it more often lately. I just recently got him a walker to try so maybe I will just try to start getting him to stand up on his own!

Some kids don’t crawl Try to encourage it though and he will do it when he decides to 😂 my guy was the same stubborn

Don’t let them skip crawling and go straight to walking. You might get stuck working with a Pediatric Physical Therapist down the road if that ends up happening. Trying to look for an article for you and this was the one I found. https://www.nspt4kids.com/parenting/why-its-important-not-to-skip-crawling

I know some babies skip crawling

Same here 8 months on the 23rd and not crawling yet but she is getting there we have done tones of tummy time and little by little she likes it more. There’s lots of exercises on youtube 💕

I did help my daughter to crawl when she was trying to skip crawling to pulling herself up. I put her on all fours and held her back leg like rocking her back and forth , then supported her mid body while helping her move . She did start crawling after a week of doing it at almost 7 months , she also pulls herself up and now stands unassisted for a couple of seconds (she pulls herself up, then let go of what she’s holding ) I found the exercise on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCSMDZlqto8/?igsh=b2p0aGduOGY0eWp5 This very reel, it was helpful

OMG I’m reading these comments and now I’m concerned! My LO will be 8 months on the 26th and she has shown very few signs of crawling, but today I saw her trying to pull herself up in her crib, and now she’s able to stand. What do I do if she doesn’t crawl???? I didn’t know that even happens 😭😭😭

@Ciera everything I've seen say it's not usually a concern unless they get to 12 months and aren't crawling but are also showing other signs of development delay🤷‍♀️ so I think as long as your baby is developing other physical skills, it should be fine if she doesn't crawl and goes straight to walking.
