Waters have broken at 35 weeks but unsure what’s happening

I am 35 weeks + 1 today and my waters broke this morning. I have been in hospital all day and they are keeping me in overnight to monitor me. I am confused at what the next steps are? has anyone been in this situation. Will they induce labour if it doesn’t start by itself?

Hi lovely, my waters broke at 33+4. They monitored me for infection for 48hrs as this is the most risky. I left the hospital with 10 days antibiotics to fight any potential infection and have to be monitored for bloods etc twice a week at hospital until contractions begin or until I reach 37 weeks when they will induce me. Try not to panic, I’m 34+3 now and feel fine with no signs. Xx

Thank you for sharing your experience. Everything i read online says if your waters break after 34 weeks then they should offer to induce labour to prevent risk of infection. So far no body has mentioned anything to me. I think they are just waiting to see what happens overnight xx

Heyyy!! my waters went at 36+4 and then was kept in hospital til 37 weeks, and had baby at 37+1. He was 6lb when born and that was last year and now he’s a big boy. They will monitor you and may send you home if things are fine. You will be on antibiotics til baby comes. Try not to worry Sending lots of love.xx

I have twins and one of my twins sacs ruptured at 30 weeks on Friday 25th October. They kept me in for 48 hours incase it bought on Labour... which it did 2 days later. I ended up having an emergency cesarean due to one twin bring breach and my contractions not being strong enough. My twin girls are now in NICU. I was discharged from hospital after 4 days. My girls will stay in until they have gained enough weight and can regulate their own temperature. They are doing amazingly well. The staff have been incredible and we know they are in the best hands. Some women are able to carry on their pregnancy even with their waters breaking or a rupture. Everyone is different, so it's hard to know. But they will continue to monitor you and your baby to know before they let you go home. So you are in good hands. It's just waiting now.. sending love xx

Thank you for sharing your experiences girlies 🥰 I am so glad your babies are doing well Xx
