Elective C Section

Anyone else going in for an elective had to go in 2 days prior to surgery to have your bloods taken and await a phonecall the night before surgery telling you what time to come in?

I’ve got a pre-op scheduled for 25th (where they’ll take bloods) which is the day before my section on the 26th. I’ve had a letter saying to go to FMAU for 07:15 the morning of my surgery 😅😴😂

@Megan wow nice and early one for you.

@Megan were you also told to fast beforehand and drink apple juice?

I think it depends on your circs, I’ve been told due to my circs I don’t need to go in early for a pre-op/bloods, it will all be done on the day and I just have to be there for 7:30am x

I'll anticipate a potentially early morning slot then fingers crossed

I’m going in tomorrow 🥴 had my bloods done yesterday, even though I haven’t had a MRSA swab done 🤷🏻‍♀️ awaiting a phone call today with what time to go in tomorrow!

@Lilly they did my MRSA swab at my 36 week appointment where they booked in my c section date but haven't given me a time yet.

@Nicole I’ve not been told anything specifically just yet. I imagine I’ll get info at my pre-op appointment the day before. Definitely an early start on the day of the surgery, but I imagine they’ll take people into theatre in order of priority etc. So I’m prepared I might not have her until the afternoon. It is what it is ☺️😂 xx

Hope it goes smoothly for us all!

My section is booked for the 25th and my pre op is on the 22nd. They said they will call me on on the evening before (sunday24th) to let me know what time. (Section to be done either 7am-9:30) or (10:30-12:30).

My pre op was the day before when they took bloods and then gave me time to go in next day. I had to go in at midday but due to emergencies didn't have my section until 5 30 pm

@Nicole I’m worried they will cancel the section tomorrow as I haven’t had it done but at any appointment they haven’t mentioned it so I might just keep quiet x

I received an app for anaesthetics consultant at the same time as my surgery day. For example, my csection is tomorrow and had the anaesthesiologist app on the 18th where they also did the MRSA swabs. For the blood tests I had them done on Friday afternoon since my surgery is on Monday morning. And I was told in the letter confirming the surgery when to go for the bloods etc.

I'm in for a section tomorrow 🙌🏼 my hospital is quite small though, so it's 7.30 arrival whatever

Yep mine was on the Wednesday, had bloods done on Monday. Midwife called me Tuesday midday with time x

@Lilly hopefully they don't cancel it because that's on them.

No I have pre-op on the 20th and C-section booked for the 28th. For my hospital everyone has to go to the hospital at the same time in the morning, then they have a meeting and discuss what order the ladies go to theatre based off their risk factors so I won’t know until the day what time I’ll be getting it and just have to go in and wait.

I’m currently in hospital (transverse lie) and got my c section in the morning. They have taken my bloods today and said they won’t know what time I’m in until tomorrow so guessing it must be the same for you. Best of luck!!! 😬🥰

Lots of c sections tomorrow! Good luck everyone. Birthday buddies!

Update: today been told that my hospital book 5 planned sections a day but depending on what number I am will determine when I have the surgery and that they usually say to come in at 7.15am on the morning of regardless.

Got my bloods being taken tomorrow with C-section planned for Tues - to be in for 8am !

I have my pre-op this Saturday and C-section Monday, I have to be there 7.30 on the Monday
