Would I be wrong to have my kid work for money to spend on mom and dad for xmas

My daughter is 8 and I try to teach her that Xmas is just as much about giving as getting. In years prior we donated toys, and did angel tree. I usually give her a small amount of money to use to spend on me and her dad. Well this year I was gonna have her do some extra chores to earn money to spend on us (a few loads of laundry, or vacuum the car) well my mom blew up at me because apparently that's wrong of me. Is that wrong?

I don't think it's wrong. You're teaching her the value of her work and that it's rewarding to give. My 12 year old daughter does plenty of chores around the house (her laundry, unloading the dishwasher, sweeping the back porch) and she's been doing them since she was 8 or 9.

Your mom is wrong. At first I didn’t even read the post in full bc you’re not wrong. 1 it’s your choice on how you raise your kids. 2 plenty of parents have their kids do chores to get an allowance and this is for her to again understand giving and the value of a dollar and that work and time has to go in to get this money. I think you’re doing great
