There’s a great chance you’ll have a success vaginal birth and will probably progress quite quickly too. Your cervix has dilated fully, your body knows how to do that. Pushing will likely still take some time because you haven’t done that before but I would 100% aim for VBAC

You’re best speaking to a doctor and midwife they can take in all your risk factors and medical history to determine how likely you are at having a VBAC! Mine told me all the factors that would increase/decrease my chances

Following!! I had an emergency section after reaching 10cm. I'm due with my second in March 2025 and torn atm as to what to do. My first baby was 9lbs...!

@Becca oh yeah I am under a consultant for this pregnancy because of but I just wanted to hear of any experiences first hand x

@KateI would still go for VBAC! You have a great chance of having normal delivery. Yes, you will be high risk because of your scar. Yes, you will be continuously monitored unless you decide to labour outside of guidelines in which case you should have a proper sit down with obstetric consultant or a consultant midwife to have a thorough discussion about what the risks are etc. But I would go for it. Did they tell you why you ended up having a CS? Did they try an instrument?

@Jana sorry I’m gonna jump on this too, I believe they tried forceps but he was back to back. He was also over 9lb

I know it’s the most heartbreaking experience when you have tried so hard and it’s not happening. I am a midwife, I have seen it so many times. Having a CS at fully dilated is actually quite dangerous and really the last resort and I am sorry you had to go through this. Yes, back to back is a huge disadvantage and large baby didn’t help either…. I guess just a combination of factors. It really is up to you Yasmin. I am just saying that from experience you have a great chance of smashing it xx

@Jana thanks so much for your advice! I really do plan on going for vaginal birth and want to do all I can to lead in this direction!

@Jana I had a c section because it had been 24 hours since waters broke and, after pushing for over an hour he wasn't coming out. They tried forceps and then they also tried the ventouse when I was in theatre and neither worked. Think he was stuck. He had come really low down and my cervix almost had to play catch-up with him.
