Breach baby

Just had my 34 week midwife appt and they said baby is breach 😫my last appt a few weeks ago it was head down so it’s obviously turned again since then. She didn’t seem overly concerned given I still have a few weeks to go but if at my next appt in 3 weeks we are still breach C section will be be discussed which I really really do not want. Anyone had a baby turn late or given birth okay breach? I’m stressing!

My baby isn't breech, but she is transverse. I was told if she's still transverse at my next appointment, I'll be offered an ECV where they try to move the baby from the outside (it doesn't sound overly pleasant in my opinion but it can sometimes be effective). I'm already scheduled in for a c-section due to 2 previous sections but due to the risk of a cord prolapse with the baby being transverse, they're keen to get her moved or else I may have to stay in hospital until she arrives. It sounds like there's still time for baby to turn, but if not, the ECV might be something worth considering if you really don't want a c-section x

This happened to me at my 31 week appointment and I had two more appointments up to week 34 to see if he would turn on his own. They gave me a scan with a consultant to confirm and they then discussed with me if I wanted to book in for a section the week before my due date or if I wanted to go in for the ECV the following week (this week now at 36+4). I’m also keen to avoid a section so really hoping the ECV will work this week with no complications. At the end of the day though all that matters is that baby comes safely and at least with a scheduled section it can take a lot of the fear of the unknown away and you would know exactly when you’re getting to meet baby, no pain of labour etc. just a longer recovery. I’ve had lots of other mums saying their baby turned on their own as well so don’t stress but if not they will likely offer you the ECV unless you have medical reasons that prevent one. Wishing you the best xx

Yeah I mean I still have a few weeks so I’m just praying they turn in time. Was just having a read about the ECV some are successful and others are not. Iv got a two year old so feel like if I do have a c section it will be tougher recovery and also longer in hosp. Given I’m due at Xmas I wanted to be in and out ideally! Fingers crossed they turn 🤞🏼

@Zoe thank you for replying. hope the ECV goes well for you, keep me updated! Yes I have read that lots of baby’s will just turn on their own to. Good luck to you! Xx

This happened to me at my 34 week appointment. I did a couple days of these exercises and when I had a scan the following week he had turned head down 😊 who knows if he would have turned anyway but definitely worth a shot! https://youtu.be/s-szODdpg8A?si=7dKCO9YGxOrM_CMV

I feel you - my daughter will be 2 at the end of January and I'm due New Year's Eve! I was hoping to avoid a c-section this time but they told me I don't have a choice because of the risk of my scar rupturing 😭 When I had my first section (a very much unplanned, emergency under general anaesthetic section), they only kept me in for 2 nights. With my second (much more relaxed and I was awake for this one), I was out the next day! They don't keep you in as long as you expect unless there's complications. It is still hard recovery wise afterwards though, I won't try to sugar-coat it. Hopefully baby turns before then for you 😊🤞

I was breech a few weeks ago, I started walking more and avoiding laying back on the sofa etc. My midwife advised that I keep laying on my left side when I sleep because I was back to back too.36 weeks now and baby in head down, felt her head drop down into my pelvis yday 😆.

This makes me feel better! I’m definitely going to start walking more and the exercises midwife has recommended and hoping this all helps! X

My midwife told me my baby was breech at 34 weeks - I panicked and did loads of exercises, chiro, acupuncture etc. Had a scan at 36 weeks which confirmed baby was head down. At 34 weeks the midwife had told me that I could feel his head pushing against my ribs but the 36 week scan confirmed that was his bum not head so I am convinced she was wrong!

@Floz I have another scan booked for a couple of weeks time to. Will start the exercises and hope for the best. Hoping midwife has got it wrong to. I thought it felt like a foot up higher but she said it’s the head! X
