I do 120-150ml. I heard they don't need as much as they would formula because breast milk has lots more fat/nutrients, but I don't know if that 100% right but makes sense to me
Expressed milk should only be given in max 5oz bottles, it's different make up to formula. Make sure you pace feed and before offering more, wait 20 minutes as it takes this long for babies stomach to register the feed
Thank you ladies! I had also read that the make-up of breast milk is different so doesn’t need to equate to formula amounts! @Elle roughly how often are you offering that? Or are you just offering when you see cues. My little one is a hungry baby and will happily be on the boob every 2 hours, however she can go 3/4 if needed. X
I'm not using bottles all the time so can't give a time for those as he breastfeeds a lot of the day. However I have always just followed his cues, he's 5 months now and I feed him usually every 2 hours but recently he's started stretching to 3 sometimes
@Elle No problem! Thank you for the advice!
I exclusively pump now, but can't supply the whole day so do formula bottles too. We do feeds every 2/3 hours. 3 bottles are expressed and 3 bottles are formula
If your baby only feeds every 2 hours theyre likely taking less milk and therefore will take a smaller bottle. You should offer 1.5oz per hour since their last feed so if it's only been 2 hours they might only want a 3oz bottle. 2oz every 3 hours would probably be too little though x
@Hattie That’s super helpful thank you!! X
I find that I always offer an Oz more than I think she’ll drink. It’s not a big waste if she doesn’t drink but like us sometimes she has hungry days and others she’s not bothered. It’s not a science. You can’t really overfeed on breastmilk - even if one is a bottle.
When I express I give the same amount as it was a formula. Which is 7 ounces to my baby☺️ every four hour tho
