Not only what @Courtney Davis said but the waiting list to even get physically seen whether it face to face or on zoom is a wait so I'd be jumping for joy that you only have to wait until the 16th December this year for that call
I sympathise with you, it’s easy for people to say a year isn’t a long time but when you want something so bad it feels like forever. We’re in the same boat. If it makes you feel any better (I’m not sure where in the UK you are and how good your dr’s are) the wait for the initial appt for us was quite a while but we were both referred immediately to St Bart’s upon having the appointment and sent for bloods, womb scan etc by the GP. I’m still waiting for my fertility referral appointment but my husband got an appointment at St Bart’s for the sperm sample within two weeks of his doctors appointment, which is super quick. Make sure you’re booked with a GP who covers fertility specifically for the referral as that will be best. Good luck with everything 🤞🏻 x
When me and my partner were trying they wouldn’t do anything for a year .. I had a phone consultation then we couldn’t have sex for three days I believe and he had to give a sample . We went down the ivf route however had to put that on pause due to personal reasons and we got pregnant after 2.5 years then when we tried for our second we got pregnant first time . I know it feels like forever but you’ve taken the first steps … good luck 🤞🏼
@Elisha hey! I have also been referred to Bart’s. My husband already had his SA because he was born with an undescended testicle so about the 4 month mark he asked his GP for a test but he had to wait 5 months for the next available appointment! Then after a year of trying I asked my gp to refer me. Still not heard from Bart’s after 4 weeks. How long after your referral did you get your appointment?
I know it seems like it but 16th December really isn't far away. It gives you one more cycle to ttc. From the consultation they should initiate tests for you both. I hate to say it but NHS fertility help is a really slow process and there is a lot of waiting
@DS I haven’t heard anything yet the referral was sent on 7th October, the doctor advised the wait for an appointment could be up to three months x
@Elisha thank you for getting back to me, I really appreciate it. I was referred on 25th October, so hopefully we should hear back a similar time. Best of luck on your journey 💖
@DS thank you, you too ❤️ x
@Elisha Not sure if this was anything to do with my comment saying a year isn’t long. But I was also in the same boat and I tried for over 3 years then had a miscarriage and I had to wait for a fertility appointment the same as everyone else, thankfully didn’t need it but sometimes you just have to be realistic. 2 years is normally the least a doctors need you to be trying before you get anywhere very far. I had tests done and scans and so did my partner but that isn’t the slowest bit unfortunately. Hope you get to where you want to be eventually.
@Courtney Davis no not at all x
@Elisha okay that’s okay, I’m not here to start a fight haha x
No a year might not be long enough…. But when you’ve got friends left right and centre getting pregnant it makes you question what’s wrong with you etc. Luckily I’ve already had a pelvic ultrasound and was told everything looked fine. I’ve paid for a private enhanced hormone blood test to see if anything comes up with that. I know people try for a lot longer and go through way more struggles than we have …. But let’s be kind. I just feel like we’ve been doing everything right and it hasn’t happened that’s all.
I found with GPs you really need to advocate for yourselves. Most aren’t that clued up on fertility treatments and guidance. If you’ve been trying for a year you are absolutely within your rights to ask for basic tests now (make sure your partner gets his own tests at his GP). This is the NICE guidelines. If you’re 35+ years it’s only 6 months of trying before you are eligible. NHS fertility waitlists are pretty long though, everything moves slowly. I hope you get some answers and support soon x
Depends on your age. We lied and said been trying for years (it had been 6mths) to get some tests. I wanted peace of mind. Turns out male sperm issue - glad didn’t wait 2 years to find that out!! For about £500 you can have a couples MOT privately. You will have the results back before your telephone call on 16th ☺️ We got a positive pregnancy test (private funded ICSI cycle) before I even got my referral via NHS. Such a long wait. If you have the money just pay to get pregnant 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I know the friend situation. My friend told me she was pregnant the day I was miscarrying at 12 weeks…. But when I was ttc in that 3 years my sister got pregnant and most of my friends, you’re not the only one who has to go through that too. But unfortunately, you have to wait your turn like everyone else (I did too) but you will get there eventually. It’s just a waiting game.
@Francesca thank you 🥰 I paid for an enhanced blood test so waiting for results of that which are due this week! 🤞🏻 going to try and tempt my partner to pay for an MOT 😬. Thank you 💕
@Amy thank you 💕💕
Yes I have read what I wrote and it’s just the honest truth, I’ve been through it and so have thousands of people in the uk. Sometimes you have too be cruel to be kind and ttc is just one of them cruel things in life. I know, I’ve been there, got the t-shirt had 2 miscarriages myself and it sucks.
A year isn’t that long. Most doctors won’t do anything till the 2 year mark x
