Between 24 & 26 weeks if it’s your first pregnancy. Have you been told you are risk of it?

Not everyone gets tested for it, it's only if you're at risk of developing it, it's normally around 26 weeks and is a separate appointment from your normal midwife one x

Second baby and im 24 weeks and getting tested on Thursday but I am high risk and my first baby was born LGA so they're on the ball this time with testing me and my appointments as my oldest ended up being an emergency c section at 36 weeks after 24 hours of labour, if you're not at risk then you won't be tested for it x

You only get tested if you are at risk, so if a family member has diabetes for example. I’m getting tested on 2nd December for it as my dad is Type 2 xx

I’m 22 weeks and getting tested tomorrow. I was told to fast but allowed to drink. Is that the case?

Oh I thought it was offered to everyone! I don't think I'm high risk as no family members with diabetes xx

You’ll have had it mentioned to you at your dating scan if you needed it :) xx

Mine is scheduled to be done when i’m 24+2 so I’m guessing around that mark? This is my first pregnancy and the reason I’m getting it is because my bmi was high, i’ve been told that it’s not for everyone xx

I’ll be 28 weeks when I get tested for mine (December 12th) & this is my second pregnancy. With my first im pretty sure I got tested when I was in my 6 months mark but this pregnancy it’s when I’m 7 months pregnant. Usually you get tested if you’re high risk or from a background that’s usually more known to have diabetes etc but if you’re worried just message your midwife to ask if you’d be needing one x

this is my first baby- i’ll be tested when im 28 weeks due to midwife not remembering to book it in! but i think ideally between 25-28. Like stated by others you only get tested if you have certain risk factors but it isn’t just if any family have history of diabetes- my family has none but my bmi is around 30 and that is the cut off point to also getting it done - i know a lot of people say midwife will sort it but as i said mine didn’t and i defo need to have the test so if you aren’t sure or think you might need it and it hasn’t been mentioned there’s no harm in questioning yourself xxx

@Mia I had to fast from 10pm & drink only water from then. If you drink anything different they won’t be able to test you or your results won’t be valid.

If you have a Bmi higher than 30, had GD before, or someone (i.e. parents) have diabetes, if not you probably won't get tested unless they pick anything up in a growth scan!

@Kimberley thank you. Just got it done yesterday. Waiting for results..

@Mia I hope it went ok, have you heard back? I had it in my first pregnancy but not this pregnancy.

@Kimberley I just got back my results and I have it. I’m freaking out

@Mia it’s natural to panic about it but you’ll be fine. You’re more than welcome to message me about it because when I had it I managed to control it purely through my diet.
