Methods for natural induction

Hey mamas Did anyone of you tried natural methods for inducing the labour such as eating dates, drinking raspberry leaf tea, special exercise, acupuncture and etc? Does it really work for anyone? Or it's just a myth?

My midwife told me today the only scientifically proven method is intercourse! X

I'd say that intercourse is the only real way to induce labour naturally due to the oxytocin and prostaglandin. I do however have a portion of my Mum's super spicy curry in the freezer labelled "induction curry" if I need it 🤣

@India 😂😂😂

To be honest, I have been eating dates and pineapples, drinking raspberry leaf tea, and doing pelvic opening exercises and no progess with anything at the moment- currently 37+5

"Special exercise " lol lots of sex

I’ve seen a few people saying dates have worked for them! Raspberry leaf tea is for active / second stage labour so won’t influence the start… As others have said, sex is probably the most reliable 😅

Apparently trying to express milk could induce labour x

I’m 38 weeks atm in early but very slow labour. I’ve been trying raspberry tea, pineapple and like everyone else was saying intercourse aswell.

Myth

I think dates are for preventing tears. Raspberry leaf tea I heard it could work 3 cups a day from 37 weeks, curb walking , pelvic exercise and I guess sex as everyone here is saying is always a way to induce.

I had a spontaneous labour on Thursday. I had been having raspberry leaf tea tablets and my second stage of labour was so quick I nearly never got it hospital without pushing! On Thursday my husband had booked the day off and we had a really wholesome day as a family of 3. He start the nursery …. I said I swear him starting the nursery did it for me as my love language is acts of service! 😂😂😂😂 x

I had my first session of reflexology and acupuncture at 37 weeks and I had some mild irregular tightenings after it!!! Carried on with raspberry leaf tea, dates, hand expressing, clary sage oil infusion etc!!! They are worth a try xx

As others have said, Raspberry leaf tea is for shortening the second stage of labour - not inducing. Increase both oxytocin & prostaglandin (which sex does both of!). Oxytocin can be increased just by doing things you enjoy though including relaxing, reading a book, watching your favourite film etc. whatever makes you feel happy ☺️

Pumping and sex are the only two that can really have solid effect but other factors have to be ready to go — it’s not like a ton of sex will put you into preterm labour - tho pumping might cause intense enough contractions that your baby would be distressed - that’s the reason why I was told to wait more than it sending into preterm labour

Also just removing barriers to dilation - like if you feel overly stressed or otherwise unsafe you’ll have a lot more trouble dilating & may “undilate” so to say
