Opening cupboards and drawers

How are we all stopping our little ones from getting into cupboards and drawers? Locks on them? It’s driving me insane how many times a day i’m having to stop her pulling everything out and then getting her fingers trapped 😂 Help a mama out!

If it’s not dangerous I just let him have a look and explore. He eventually got bored and doesn’t even go for them anymore. When it was the cleaning cupboard I would just say ‘oh no let’s not go in there’ and then take him somewhere else and distract him. Just constant repetition at this age tbh

In the kitchen we have magnet locks on most cupboards, strap locks on the fridge/freezer and handle locks on the laundry and bin/cleaning cupboard doors. We have side cupboard thing in the dining room which we barricade with the dining room chairs so he can't open all the drawers (which has the spare baby lock stuff and his "i can't be asked to cook" packet meals but also scissors and various tools for DIY). We have some sliding door cupboards which we have taped shut with masking tape as well. Our main problem is we have realised almost every cupboard we own downstairs had something dangerous to him in it. From chemicals (e.g. spray paints in our hobby cupboard), to glassware, to laundry liquids, to scissors. Basically the only safe cupboards in our house are our wardrobe.

I've got gate on door of kitchen and she ain't allowed in there. Sometimes she does go in if walk in there I don't have a big kitchen anyway x

We've got locks on some cupboards, mainly under the sink, the pots and pans and the random crap one. The rest we've left unlocked. His new thing is the fridge 🤦‍♀️ and will constantly want to raid it but we can't put a lock on it so at the moment I tie that and the freezer one together with a shoe lace 🤣 (it was the only thing I could find at the time).

I use the magnetic locks. And if I want to be in the kitchen and keep him busy I leave the safe cupboards with plastic items open for him to play. He loves it

I stopped trying 😂 my son is obsessed with doors and there’s honestly no stopping him. I have magnetic locks on my kitchen cupboards that have cleaning supplies etc in though x

Magnetic locks are a god send! However the non dangerous ones i let her play with xx

I just let him do it, nothing dangerous is in any cupboard he can reach. He likes to take out the pots and pans while I cook, it keeps him occupied for a while so I don't mind!

Hair ties. I have scrunchies on all my cabinets and as long as it looks like the draws are “tied” he doesn’t mess with them surprisingly

We got some magnetic locks which are absolutely amazing!

Anyone can recommend any specific magnetic locks? X

I let my kid go through the cubbords and drawers. We haven’t got many on his level and it doesn’t take me very long to tidy up afterwards.

I just let her go for the cupboards it's mainly saucepans. I've moved all the serious dangerous stuff out of reach. She loves exploring.
