🙌🏻 I did with my first and will be again. I’m a shit cook. I really tired at the beginning but after spending hours cutting, cooking, mashing/puree and she just spat it out I decided pouches were the way forward.
IMO the jars and pounces don't taste of anything, they're so bland and all taste the same! Get yourself a book called "what mummy makes" it has loads of easy recipes specifically for babies, and u can eat them too!
I will use them on occasion but try and avoid the ones with lots of sugar xx
My baby just eats what we have so I am trying to be more healthy. We will have some meat, vegetables and a carb like mashed potatoes xx
I haven’t used them myself but I know one thing to be mindful of is that some of them are quite sweet as they can contain lots of fruit, even the ‘veggie’ ones, so just worth checking the ingredients. Also if you can’t be bothered with the faff of making purées yourself, baby led weaning is also an option, or you can combine the two. Do what works for you 🥰
I used them with my first and definitely will be with my second, I just don’t have the time to be stood batch cooking all the time x
I use the pouches as a starting point, when baby is used to eating then i do my own and can increase it to more lumpy textures to suit so i have more control over their food. But i think its a gold starting point xxx
Thankyou all for your advice. I think I will start off with pouches and go from there xx
You don’t need to be able to cook, at the beginning you’re just boiling/steaming veg and blending it. Honestly buying jars and pouches is such an expensive way of doing it I would just say give it a go it’s really not hard and this way your baby is getting fresh goodness. I’m not judging people who use jars and pouches btw I just think try doing it yourself first. Once baby has done first tastes just give them what you’re eating without salt x
Try to just steam veggies and give to baby, start to follow some IG accounts where they make food for baby it will be better for they health, than the ones you buy from shop and cheaper. Also solid start app is very good to see sizing for veg if you give baby to eat themselves 🥰
@Brittany @Natalie @Amy what brand did you use? My baby will be 6 months when I start but do I buy the pouches from 4 months or 6? Xx
Ive got aldi, start on the from 4months and see how you go. You will soon know if you need to go up to next ones. The 4months tend to be single fruit/veg which i find easier so you know what they do/dont like x
You don’t need to know how to cook. In the beginning you only need to boil some vegetables and fruits and blend them, you don’t even need to season them. I think pouches are great if you’re going out for the day or something, not to eat everyday tho. Even the ones that claim to be “organic” they just processed food and full of sugars. You can always get a food maker machine that steams and blends the vegetables and fruits for you, they’re great and easy to use 🥰
I used Ella’s pouches xx

I use a mix of Ella’s kitchen pouches (but they are quite expensive) so also use Morrisons and tescos own brand pouches
Personally I use pouches. I don’t like jars. I find them to be so much hassle and they are so watery sometimes. Right now he’s just having fruits so sometimes instead of giving a pouch I just give him some blended apples or bananas.
Do whatever you need to, to feed your baby. I do think the jars can be quite watery, i think the pouches are better but not 100% sure x
