Tips to encourage walking!

My boy turned 1 on the 30th and is still not showing many signs of being interested in walking. He's been cruising round furniture since he was crawling at 6/7 months and is a rapid crawler. But still doesn't really try to attempt to take any steps! He's so quick ans efficient at crawling I don't think he sees the point in trying to walk since he's so good at crawling but wondered if anyone has any tips?! Pic for attention of the little monster 😂

I wouldn’t worry at all đŸ„° my little one turned 1 on the 5 October so almost a month older than your boy, and only took his very first, very wobbly few steps last night. When he was standing against the sofa we just excitedly said “come on then, go go go” with our arms out and eventually he’s mustered up the courage to step away from it. Don’t think I’d say he’s walking yet either! Does your little one walk holding both your hands, or with a walker?

I wouldn’t worry! We went from no signs at all to standing and taking 2-3 steps in the same week, it’s like something just clicked! No practice runs, no interest before. They’ll get there x

My boy isn't walking, he also very quick at crawling

My little girl only started crawling at 1 year, 1 week old. I wouldn’t worry x

I actively didn't do anything to make him, never held his hand etc only held under his arms to steady him if he showed me he wanted to. He loved that independence. Instead I modelled crawling up to a cupboard and then using my hands to pull myself up to squat then stand and modelled cruising so he would copy. Once he cruises, give him safe opportunities to take a step from one piece of thr furniture to another by putting furniture close together. That's how they gain confidence. If you carry him around, and he can stand with support, put him down next to a doorframe or something to hold on to and take 1 step away from him. That's how my son did his first 2 steps as he wanted me and I was so close that it would have taken much longer to get down on the floor and crawl to me. I never held his hand so it was all his achievement and helped his confidence and because of no hand holding he has always walked properly, never on tip toes!

Mines 16 months and won’t walk, taken couple steps but that’s all and won’t keep trying. He’s a right chatterbox though saying over 40 words! X

Try with a walker? With some music on it. But every child is different, so sooner later, he will walk :)
