In laws

Hi all, I love my in-laws and they are so generous and cannot do enough for me and my husband and our baby, but how on earth do I go about telling them to stop buying her toys. It’s constant. Every week she’s with them she’s got something new! She will never know the value of anything and Christmas is just around the corner but they keep on buying things for her! I don’t want to sound ungrateful because I really appreciate it, but I think it’s too much! She’s 10 months old and she has got 3 HUGE boxes of toys already at the in-laws, plus the toys at our house and my parents house!! Any tips on how to gently approach the subject and get them to stop!!

Can you give them an alternative? E.g. ask for something specific for example experience days or books. Something they know the grandchild will enjoy.

my grandparents are the same but with clothes , I keep taking them back to next and swapping them for the next size up, sometimes they don’t give me the receipt, but shops will always let you exchange them for something with the same value on / so long as the product isn’t used open / if my grandparents give two outfits , I keep one and take the other one back! could you do the same with the toys? or re sell on vinted - they will loose track on what they have bought! X

Now I have my own baby I worry I have been doing this to other parents for years 🙈😂
