How do I become a health visitor?!

I do not want to return to work following mat leave (I’ve got a tribunal case with them) and I just don’t want to work for them anymore. I’m open to health visiting just looks confusing how to apply get the SCPHN degree. Currently a paeds nurse 7 years experience. I’ll have 2 young children if I apply will I get grants to help with child care when I do SCPHN? Anyone else done health visiting course with 2 young children?

I believe if you can apply somewhere that has an opening and is willing to pay for you to do the top up you could go that way.

Search student health visitor or student SCPHN on nhs jobs. I don’t know where you are but there one out atm for Birmingham. You’ll have to apply for the job and the uni course. If you get offered the job your uni application will be successful. On the interview panel there is usually staff from the trust and the uni. It is a super intense year which is really stressful but best of luck if you choose to do it!

Just to add not sure what band you are but the student scphn role is usually paid at band 5 only then it’s a 6 when you qualify and get a qualified HV role x
