Doesn’t say mama or mummy

My 14 month old son has been very happy and chatty since a few months old, and he loves to talk. Just about 10-11 months old he started saying ‘daddy’. And when dad asks him ‘who’s this?’ He says ‘ daddy’, but never says mama or mummy. I didn’t worry much in the beginning but it has been a few months since he only calls daddy and not mummy and I am starting to get sad/worried. Really complicated feeling. Maybe I’m just being jealous but has anybody experienced something similar..? When did your lo started calling you mama or mummy?

Mine doesn’t say mama or daddy yet, all he does is animal sounds! 😅 I don’t think you need to worry, it will come 🩷

If he's saying "Daddy" to you too don't worry he's not actually identifying him as "Daddy" it's just a word! I get how you would feel though

Mine only says hiya, and 'ma' which means 'I want that thing there'. No mummy or daddy yet. He definitely understands a lot of what we say, and is hitting all other milestones, but I'm going to ask the health visitor about it when she visits next week to see if it's time to worry yet. My mum says I didn't say much till my brother was born when I was 20 months, then I suddenly said loads, so maybe he's just taking after me. It's so hard not to stress about these things but each wee person is different and they change so fast, they'll get there and we'll forget all about the worries

My little one goes through phases of discovering different sounds, right now it’s ‘b’ so everything thing is b something. I’m sure it’ll come, the fact he makes lots of sounds and understands. He’ll get there!
