@Amelia no judgement! Working on slowly getting son off his pacifier but it's hard! Giving in is for your sanity too sometimes! I started giving him his milk totally separate from his bedtime routine, he'd get his milk in a diff room from the bedroom & after he was done, we'd play or watch low stim show for at least 10 mins before taking him into the bedroom. Once in the bedroom, then we'll do book, songs, etc. the norm stuff he's used to right before sleep. I slowly started putting more time between milk & sleep so I'm assuming he just doesn't associate the 2 anymore? It took a couple months tho, maybe 2 or 3 cus I did it slowlyyyyyy
@Amelia also have you tried giving him less & less milk? Seemed to work for us when I was trying to get him off his 6am bottle; he'd wake crying, take a bottle & go back to sleep. I literally reduced his milk by 1/2 an ounce every week & in the beginning when he noticed he'd whine a lil but fall asleep anyway since he was tired. When I got down to just under 4oz, he just stopped walking up one day! Supposedly they learn that it's not worth it anymore or something...idk but it worked for us! I hope something here helps!
@jes if you need any advice for the pacifier we took out son to build and bear and let him choose a bear and put his bunnies in there! It worked pretty good:) and that’s smart! I’ll have to try it!
@jes and we have tried that, we’ve even tried slowly adding more water to it but it got it a point where he realized what we were doing haha
@Amelia does he take a bottle still? Or a cup, sippy, straw?
@Amelia he never asked for his pacifier again after putting it into the bear?
How did you do it? I’ve tried and tried to get my son of bedtime milk and I give in after like 3 hours of him crying for dang milk ( I also know giving in is the worst thing you can do but I need my dang sleep🥲)
