More veg in babies diet

I feel so embarrassed, but my baby has had bad Constipation on and off for a few weeks and the GP said it could be because I'm not feeding her enough vegetables. I've been too scared to do baby led weaning so I rely on a lot of store bought ready made stuff. A typical day for us looks like: Breakfast - baby porridge and a heinze baby biscuit or rice cakes Lunch - toast with nut butter or hummus, a small portion of a baby puree jar (textured and try to mix up flavours), then as dessert either fruit in one of those dummy feeders or a fruit pouch Dinner - large portion of textured puree plus melty sticks and slow roasted veg wedges, like sweet potato wedges, plus an Ella's kitchen pudding or fruit pouch Help? I've tried making my own snacks like pinwheels and have mixed loads of broccoli into the mixture but I think I need to give veg more as a side on its own. What do you give? What texture? How do you cook it? How do you make it interesting? Please tell me your babies fave veggies and how you serve them!

If your scared of blw why don’t you switch a lunch or breakfast for a fruit punch? I was scared originally and still use pouches all the time but honestly they know what to do with solids. My girl has cucumber sticks and loves them that you could try? Another one I do is roast some veggies like carrots parsnips etc purée it, get some mash and blend that all together and buy some bread clubs and roll the mixture into patty’s with bread crumbs and bake them for 10 mins! It’s like a really soft patty that breaks up very easily and not scary to give them! Don’t feel embarrassed we all have anxiety about blw it’s just our instinct to worry the worst sometimes you got this x

@olivia thank you! Love the idea of the patties, I'll give that a go! I'm now finally quite comfortable with large wedges of roasted sweet potato, carrot and parsnip as I've tried those a few times with her, but I'm so frightened of other veg like broccoli because in my head there's more little pieces that could fall off and she could choke on (eventhough I know millions of babies are absolutely fine with it 😅)

Yeah o get the anxiety completely and the little bits may catch her off guard but there unlikely to make her fully choke. If your baby is breathing while coughing the best thing to do is let them get it up themselves it’s only when there’s no breath you need to worry. It’s normal xx

@olivia thanks for saying that. Some of my friends are doing so well at BLW I just feel like we're massively behind giving her textured purees

I roast loads of mixed veg, blend it up, add some potato, flour and an egg then make it into waffles. My baby is eating 5-6 different veggies a day and pooping like a trooper 😂 because the waffles are mainly potato they are very soft so choking is not a big concern!

@Tara amazing! I assume you have a waffle iron?

Yes, sorry! Forgot to mention that bit 😅I find they’re really good as they’re easy to hold with the big ridges.

My LG started with broccoli steamed and she loves them! They are super soft so she may gag but it’s very rare now, it wouldn’t be a concern of mine for her choking with this x
