Pumping
Hey! When did y’all start pumping? I have a one weeker and am exclusively breast feeding right now… I want to pump eventually but have been reading not to start until she’s 3 weeks.

I started pumping 1hr after birth, my baby was taken to nursery and I brought colostrum but midwife suggested I pumped some fresh milk for him.
I pumped not long after birth my son was in nicu and I wanted to give him breast milk so I had to pump so nurses could feed him with a syringe

I started pumping in the hospital right after she was born even though she latched just fine by recommendation of the lactation consultant in the hospital. That led to an oversupply and painful engorgement. If i knew better I’d have waited until 3-4 weeks when my milk supply regulated then if it was necessary I’d pump for example if i was going to work. I have so much milk frozen that i probably won’t even use because I’m with my baby all the time and exclusively breast feeding.
