Has anyone had theirs removed? How was it and recovery? Any tips? Is everything ok now? Mine is next week and I’m so scared

I haven’t but can I ask if you have been unwell recently and what were your symptoms? If you don’t mind me asking. X

@Nicola that’s fine, back last year I had really bad pains that side specially breathing but went after 4 hours or so had that twice. ( I put it down to drinking fizzy which I cut out completely) Come February I had severe pain ended up in hospital (labour wasn’t that painful compared to this) and they said I had polyps turns out it’s stones. And I get pains on the right side or back of my ribs if I eat fatty greasy or sugar foods, or even just sitting awkwardly or lifting the kids, but it’s just on and off painful now I get painful trapped wind and acid, also have to sleep a certain way. I had mine removed by keyhole surgery in August this year. It went okay, coming up from anaesthetic was rough and I had one bad 5-15min painful stuck gas episode while I was recovering overnight, but no gallbladder attacks since! Totally agree that the pain is worse than labour, at least there were breaks between contractions!! I was a bit delicate for a couple weeks, by week 3 I pretty much felt alright but still taking things easy where I could. By 6weeks I was all good! I hav 4 meaty little scars. The plasters were hard to keep up with, I recommend buying some large waterproof wound plasters as the hospital ones barely lasted a day (Elastoplast were best to start with) then once they were mostly healed it was painful where it rubbed my trousers waistband so I kept wearing cheaper Boots dressings for about 4-6weeks after.

@Helen thank you so much! How long was the op? Glad you’re feeling much better! Have you had any issues since? Can eat most things etc? Really worried myself by searching on TikTok and seeing negatives. Thank you for the advice on plasters!

No idea how long the op was, I was unconscious 🤷🏼‍♀️ no issues, once the gallbladder is out it can't cause problems any more. My issues were caused by pregnancy rather than diet anyway

@Helen thank you!
