Using defrosted breast milk

Hi Just looking for some advice about using frozen breast milk. I have frozen a stash but never used any of the frozen supply but have a hair app tomorrow and leaving my little girl with her dad. Online search says defrosting over night is best but it also says to use immediately when defrosted 🤷🏻‍♀️ so a little confused. Is it fine to defrost overnight in fridge and then my husband just to warm it when my little girl needs it? Thanks! My little one for cuteness

Frozen milk is fine in the fridge as long as it’s kept cold until it’s needed. Once it’s been warmed it needs to be used asap. Just be warned, if you’re using milk from a while ago, the calorie content will be from that time period; so baby will likely be hungry again, before their usual schedule.

It’s okay if it’s in fridge for I believe up to 12 hours after it’s completely thawed out. I pop mine in night before and use during the day! It usually takes mine 8-12 hours to defrost fully with no more ice crystals x

So yes, thaw overnight and once thawed (no ice crystals in the milk) you have to use it within 24 hrs. So good in the fridge for 24 hrs once thawed.

Maybe give him a bottle the day before when you’re there to make sure he 1) will take a bottle 2) will take frozen milk. I’ve heard of a lot of babies that dislike one or the other and you don’t want to find that out when you’re not there. On your question, I usually put mine in a bowl of hot water 1h before use

Yes, best to test it before you go or leave some freshly expressed stuff as well. I have high lipase which changes the taste of the milk that's been frozen, its quite common and harmless but my LG won't drink it. There are ways around it if you have that issue x

Thanks everyone! My little one has a bottle of formula at night so there’s always an option of formula but would just prefer during the day that it’s still breast milk. I’ll only be away 1.5 hrs max but it’s just incase she gets hungry in that time frame. Thanks for all your advice and answers!
