@Becky awww thankyou it’s hard because I don’t get time alone not much family are eager to help so I have him pretty much 24/7 and yes I always have lights low the quiet toys idea is a must actually. I have ADHD too and my sons quite a loud baba loves a good cry so it’s like my brain is overwhelmed all the time 😩 the cry is deffo the coping mechanism
I often take away the noisy toys and tell my guy they're sleeping haha have a look at sort of big sensory activities to help with his regulation! We do lots of big movements which help slow him down and get him calm x
Have you considered earplugs to help with noise level? 5 mins for yourself. Sometimes I put the tv on and have a 5 min break if I’m overwhelmed. Books calm my little down.
@Robyn I struggle to read as I have Irene syndrome and dyslexia I soooo wish I was the reading type but it’s headaches galore for meee but I’ve deffo been meaning to buy the noise cancelling head set and some earplugs it just slips my mind every payday 🫣 but I’m hoping they helpppppp
Make sure you get time for you as much as possible to refuel. Take away toys that make too much noise if necessary for a bit, keep the lights low, try doing things together that aren't too overstimulating (reading, puzzles etc.), if it's possible- get out and go for a walk. I've got ADHD and I find myself getting far too overwhelmed a lot and these things help (sometimes anyway). And sometimes I just cry. I hope it gets easier for you! ❤️
