Starting IVF/ ICSI

Hey ☺️ So my partner and I are having our first official IVF appointment next week, before we start IVF/ICSI in the end of December. I already knew I had PCOS, but after all the testing, we discovered my partner has got very low sperm count, and that’s probably why we haven’t been able to get pregnant. My doctor prescribed Metformin (even though I’m apparently ovulating) and progesterone for my lutheal fase, in preparation for treatment. I’ve been really anxious and can’t stop thinking about the possibility of IVF failing. I would love to hear everyone’s stories ♥️

Best of luck to you!! ICSI is a great option for this because you only need a few healthy sperm for the process to work :) I did ICSI with donor sperm in March and transferred a healthy embryo in April! Am currently 34 weeks with other embryos on ice that I hope to transfer over the next few years. I am lucky that my first transfer was a success, but after multiple failed IUIs, it was not a short process overall. Sending you lots of luck and baby dust!

I used ICSI which is best used for male infertility and we have 9 frozen embryos currently. FET transfer scheduled for january

ICSI is amazing - we got 7 frozen embryos and both our transfers worked first time over the last 4 years :) Stay positive, be kind to each other and eat well. It might fail first time yes but it will work out eventually

I'm sure you only want to hear good news but I've had IVF with ICSI four times with my partners sperm and it didn't work. There's nothing wrong with my eggs/lining etc. that they can find so just bear in mind it doesn't always work x

@Amelia so sorry to hear this :-( my friend had this and the only way forwards was donor sperm which worked first time. You will get there it’s an emotional rollercoaster for sure IVF. I wish you well

I’m in the US and ICSI is gold standard over here. Most clinics don’t do the old school method of putting sperm in a dish with an egg and hope for the best anymore. But icsi also is an additional $720 🫠
