Baby is finally sleeping!!!! 🥳

I just wanted to share that after a year and 25 days, my baby is finally sleeping normally. This is my biggest win yet with her and I am beside myself with pride and happiness. My babygirl woke every hour, to two hours, and sometimes even more from the day she was born until very recently. She is exclusively breastfed and has gone back and forth from cosleeping to crib sleeping in our struggles to get some sleep. I’ve cried and had mental breakdowns over the lack of sleep. Just this past week, she began only waking 3 times a night, then twice, then once, until last night—she slept through the entire night in her crib. It felt like we’d never get here but baby, we made it!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳

Amazing! Well done mama and baba 🥰 Did you do anything differently towards the end for that to happen?

We need tips! 😭 enjoy your rest, you deserve it x

As far as tips, I’m not really sure that anything I did actually did much of anything for her, I think she was just ready. I coslept on really bad nights, and then she got used to it so we had to teach her to sleep in the crib again around 10 months old. I got her to sleep in her crib with a lot of patience. I’d put her to sleep and then put her down and every time she woke up I would try to soothe her in the crib. If it didn’t work, I’d pick her up and get her calm and put her down. She’s cry again and repeat over and over. That took a few days but eventually she was comfortable with her crib. I didn’t force a sleep schedule. I tried to get her on one but whenever she wasn’t sleeping according to it anymore, I didn’t push it. We went to weird 1 nap days sometimes or up at 5 am days. I just rocked with it. Eventually, she would start napping at regular times again.

Gracie also had NO teeth at all and just started growing her first 2 a week after her first birthday. Now she has 2 more growing in. I wonder if that had anything to do with it. I’m trying to get her to replace breastmilk with food as much as possible too. So, when she looks for milk with her sign language or reaching in my shirt, I give her something to eat instead and some whole milk to drink with it. Now she eats a lot, and I think maybe her having a nice full belly helps. Every night as of late, since she refuses to drink whole milk at night, I give her a fruit and some yogurt to make sure she’s super full before her bedtime routine of a bath and a book. I still breastfeed her to fall asleep before bed, but it’s more for the habit than anything and I suspect we’ll be able to wean slowly soon.

Her crib is in our bedroom. We’ll probably try moving it into her room once she’s been sleeping consistently for a bit of time. Don’t wanna ruin a good thing

Wow I’m in the same boat! Mine is 1 yr & 2 weeks.. still waking 2-3 times a night 😰 But so happy for you!! Hopefully it’s my turn soon 🥹🫶🏼
