I feed to sleep and my son has just cut one tooth, cutting another. I breastfed my first until she was 11 months and she had all her teeth apart from her molars basically. The dentist said her teeth are fine 🤷♀️ you can still look after their teeth properly and feed to sleep
Everything I read said that breastmilk was the same as formula and that when they fall asleep they have milk pooled in their mouth with can rot their teeth. It said about making them sit up to swallow the last bit and allow their saliva to wash away remnants too. Both sides of the family have bad teeth so I'm paranoid about dental hygiene 😫
Past few nights I've done bottle feeding, I know what you mean I miss it too but also want her to take a bottle from others etc and she seems to sleep longer on formula
This post has some info on feeding sleep and breastmilk vs formula milk. It’s difficult to keep in mind, but relatively few mums breastfeed until teeth come along, and some people giving advice can be over cautious. Anyway enjoy the link & comments https://www.reddit.com/r/breastfeeding/s/cka4SzHaZX
That just adds even more confusion 😂 The bit about brushing before nursing and wiping after makes sense but my girl has a shallow latch so in theory the milk would eventually get her teeth as opposed to going straight down her throat 😫 Maybe I should just call my dentist and ask their opinion so at least I'm doing what they'd prefer
Definitely double check! I’m part of a breastfeeding group on FB and from what I’ve gathered through various posts, breast milk does not cause tooth decay x
Are you breast feeding or formula? If you're breastfeeding i am pretty sure you're perfectly fine to keep feeding to sleep as breast milk isn't bad for their teeth?
