I will do. I have told her before but must have forgotten. He had already drank from it at 11.30am and then she gave the rest at 3pm! Ahh I always thought it was 2. Thank you
My health visitor said if it’s been drunk from, but kept refrigerated you can leave it 2 hours, 3 hours MAX before it starts spoiling, but if it’s been made and not drunk from, and kept in the fridge, you can use it within 4 hours, if they’re left out at room temperature after an hour they usually need to be thrown because the milk spoils quicker xx
But she also said you can technically pre make bottles and put them in the fridge and they can keep for up to 24 hours however it comes with a lot more risks of bacteria growing in the milk so it’s not encouraged to do, however she said breast milk if left refrigerated after it’s drunk from can be left 4-6 hours and if it’s not drunk from, and refrigerated, it can be left 6-8 hours and if it’s not used by the 8 hours it either needs freezing or throwing xx
@Molly that's not quite right for breast milk. You can store breast milk for 6 days in a fridge. Once drank from it's an hour-2hours at most.
@Charley well I’m just going off what our health visitor said 😊
@Molly well she's wrong so wouldn't follow or share her advice.
@Molly yh be careful hun that’s not correct info about breast milk at all x
It’s one hour from when the bottle has touched the babies lips, the HV mentioned is giving inaccurate advice (shock, they always do). Let your mum know to discard the bottle after 1 hour and just to make a fresh one if baby wants more milk 4 hours later.
@Elena I don’t breastfeed anyway, she wasn’t the most helpful or supportive person to be quite fair lol, in fact she didn’t really bother with us shewas useless when we needed help or support with something x
@Molly bless you! I hear this so often x
Does anyone know the risks of what will happen a baby does drink a bottle left out? He has done a very big poo this morning, is that the worst it will get or should I look out for anything?
Oh goodness I remember when my LO was a newborn I hadn’t taken an old bottle back to the kitchen when making a fresh one it wasn’t till I realised she had finished it quickly that it was the old one and not the new one. I would say it was probably 4 hours old the bottle. She was fine I think a one off won’t have too much of a problem I’m sure if you did every time then it would x
It's only an hour if they've already drunk from it. I'd have a talk with her if she's going to be regularly looking after baby
