Play kitchen all the way if I had to pick one. My 5 year old still plays with his, not sure how old he was when he got it. It's been a couple of years. Got it from Lidl. My 19 month old now plays alongside him. They play with it every day and multiple times a day.
Guess I'm gonna go against the grain and say farm. My daughter was interested in her play kitchen at first but hasn't touched it for weeks now, while anything farm animal that she can carry around keeps her attention. I'd argue to wait until next year or birthday for the play kitchen when they're a bit more into dramatic play. With the kitchen right now they're basically just interested in opening and closing the doors, not actually pretending to cook or anything, at least in my experience.
He plays with the farm more atm. The play kitchen gets a minute or 2 of interest a day. I think as imaginative play develops he’ll like the kitchen more as he gets older. I think both gifts are great
Both of mine loved Little People sets
Farm! I’m getting my soon to be 1 year old a farm then my 3 year old a kitchen which she recently just started to get into more. She was more interested in animals around 1 year. Barn for younger and kitchen older

My daughter doesn’t play with her kitchen. She plays with the food and play utensils, but not the kitchen. The play kitchen is mostly a storage place for the food. So I vote farm
My little boy is getting both for Christmas - the farm from my mum and dad and the kitchen from us. He's not played with a farm yet but he does have animals he plays with. He loves the kitchen at playgroup!
Play kitchen worked well for my daughters at that age. My 4 year old still has hers, albeit she doesn't play with it as much anymore but occasionally she does, we are saving it for this baby 😊
