Hey ladies

I can earn £100 for 5 hours work, but will need to spend 3 hours travelling in total and spend £25 on transport. I don't have anything else to do on the same day. Should I take the job.

If you need the money then, yes!

@Caroline i definitely do. It's just a lot of effort for something that initially looks good

I probably wouldn't. If you factor in the travel which isn't exactly local, I don't think it's worth it. Current nmw you'd get £57.8 so £100 sounds great, but you're spending an extra 3h travelling and having to pay £25 to do this, so you're getting £75 for 3h travel and 5h work. Depends how much you need the money really.

Yeh I would if I wasn’t doing anything, why not?

@Alex you're making perfect sense. The only reason I'm thinking of saying yes is because I'm super broke

@Kee I can read or snooze on the train I guess!

My work philosophy is “stuff creates stuff”. So it’s not really just about this one day but the potential it has to open other doors for you/put you in a working mindset where you’re more likely to stumble upon other opportunities. So yes as long as you have the time, I would do it for sure.

That’s a pain in the ass, can you imagine going through all that effort??

If you happy with £9 ( counting travel time ) an hour then fine and your rally neeed the money

@Kathryn nice maxim

@Adrianna no, that's what I'm talking at. But need money.

@Louma when seen like that, which is valid, I know what you mean but that's almost the minimum wage here. Plus, I get to read or snooze on the train

Are there no easier fixes around you? When I was desperate for money back in the days I’d wait tables or do bartending and that used to bring a lot of quick money

Not sure what it is you do but could you not also charged the time you’re losing travelling? Ie I could do 2 more clients in three hour time slot if I took them at home so I’d want to add the equivalent of what could’ve made to the booking tbh

@Adrianna have looked but no. I'm on maternity leave and can only do self-employed work. There's none that fits what I can offer near me, and if there is, it's all PAYE

@CSW it's a sound idea. I'm involved in training. It's not possible to charge for travel, but I have told them I'll need them to make it worth my while so perhaps they'll give me more hours.

It seems like it’ll cost you more than what you’ll make. It cost too much time too. Your time is valuable
