Do you wake your baby for night feeds

My baby is almost 4 weeks old. She will usually sleep longer in the night and can go 6 hours without waking for milk. Should I be waking her earlier to feed her?

Our midwife suggested if above birth weight, there is no need to wake during the night. As long as she/he is getting their calories during the day they are fine; they’d wake if hungry. Enjoy the 6hr sleep- wowza!!! X

Thank you. I mean I don’t know how long it will last 😅 it’s only been the past three nights… But I’m praying- as I also have a 1 year old, so I need all the sleep I can get 😂 x

I literally never wake my baby up. You need the rest! As long as they are putting weight on then enjoy your rest!

Yeah I wouldn’t wake now. Make sure getting full feeds during the day etc and yeah enjoy the block of good sleep 🥱😭

I never wake my 4 week old up! She sleeps about 4 hour stretches, but I would let her sleep longer! X

I've been waking my 4 week old every 4 hours on the advice from my health visitor. I read online that they need at least 7-9 feeds in 24 hours but how would that be possible if they slept longer than 4 hours at night?

Once they’re above birthweight then there is no need to wake for night feeds, your baby wakes to tell you when they’re hungry x

@Becca if they're feeding 3 hourly during the day and do a 6 hour stint at night, you can fit 7 feeds in, they'll just need more each feed to compensate for the longer stretch overnight x
